Volunteers from Saint Mary Catholic Church are doing their part to help those less fortunate have a merry Christmas. Monday, they handed out food and gifts to more than forty families in our area. Most donations were from parishioners and school children. Some people came from as far away as Burgaw for assistance. They said in tough times like these, every little bit helps. “I just want to tell them thank you for helping me and my family, and a lot of the others that they are helping. And hopefully they'll be around a long time,” said Burgaw’s Linda Boykin. Boykin said without help from Saint Mary, she and her family may not have had a turkey to eat this Christmas.
