The kids at Bellamy Elementary School could not wait to catch a glimpse of the Azalea Queen as her police escort arrived, followed by her limo and large entourage. The students and staff wanted to make sure the queen received the royal treatment. Bellamy Elementary School Administrator, Denise Angevine says, “we worked on our acts and got the program together. We are just so honored it is a once in a lifetime opportunity for our students and staff.” The students have been working hard on their performances since the beginning of the school year. 3rd graders performed The Best Foot Forward to “The Rhythm of the Night.” The 1st graders sang a song of peace. Then the queen had a chance to show her appreciation to the school. She said, "thank you so much for giving me an honor that is arbitrary, I mean I just...I'm just an actress and I feel like the luckiest person on the face of the earth right now to be in your company. Thank you." Next the queen went to the Department of Aging Senior Center. The Senior Center celebrated the queen’s arrival. To kick things off the seniors began with a pep rally, then some tap dancing and topped it off with a little line dancing. So far the Azalea Queen has been entertained by all ages in the community. This is only day two for the queen. She has many more Azalea festival activities to go including a parade Saturday morning.
