CAROLINA BEACH -- The search for a missing swimmer of Carolina Beach has been called off. Rescuers began looking for the swimmer around 2:30 Sunday afternoon near Alabama Avenue after a Carolina Beach resident called 911. The resident thought they saw a young man go into the water and disappear. Crews say there is a chance the swimmer got out of the water somewhere else and at this point, they don't think anyone drowned.
