It is commendable that Bladen Community College is making an effort to improve the environment. It would be even more commendable if the college, along with county agencies, would show some interest in cleaning up Bladen County's visual clutter on the major highways--HW 41 and HW 87.
In addition to trash along Bladen County's roadsides, you will see abandoned trailers, derelict houses, junk cars, old appliances stored in front yards, plastic, corrugated signs, etc. One thing you will see little of is landscaping. The county's rural blight is a disgrace. I remember when Bladen County was a clean, pastoral landscape. No more!
