Hickman announces retirement from CFCC

After the 35 years of working behind the scenes of Cape Fear Community College, the executive vice president is retiring. Dan Hickman has served under the leadership of four CFCC presidents. Since 1974, Hickman held a wide variety of positions at the college, starting out as a class supervisor. During his time at CFCC, Hickman served in the US Army and was in reserve until 2005, but not before spending a year in Iraq. “I've seen downtown change a lot, I've seen the college change a lot. I'm really excited about all the changes and the changes that are coming up in the next 35 years,” Hickman said. Hickman says he plans on attending classes in the future to brush up on some skills. He also wants to find time to spoil his grandkids.
