Dan Hickman

A multitude of super nice things were said about Dan during a surprise retirement celebration last evening at Cape Fear Community College's North Campus in the McKeithan Center. Several folks traveled great distances to share in the moment and CFCC's Board Chairman delivered Dan to the event via helicopter! (Dan was a helicopter pilot in Vietnam and flew rescue missions.) Over and over, last evening, you heard friends and co-workers talk about how helpful, unassuming and humble Dan is. Dan displayed that quality again last evening when he had his turn at the podium. He was very deliberate in redirecting attention away from himself to compliment friends, family and co-workers. And in Dan Hickman fashion, he continued what he calls "missionary work" for Cape Fear Community College. He told those in attendance what a valuable asset the College is to the residents who live, work and learn here. Just before Dan stepped away from the podium I was glad to hear him say that CFCC is still his college and he will continue to be a part of it!
