CHARLOTTE (AP) -- The Carolina Panthers hope their fourth-round pick will lift them out of the kick-return cellar.
The Panthers, who had the league-worst kick return game last season, took receiver Ryne Robinson from Miami of Ohio in the fourth round of today's NFL draft.
In the fifth round, the Panthers took tight end Dante Rosario of Oregon and linebacker Tim Shaw of Penn State.
Robinson was the nation's active career leader in both punt-return yardage with 1,677 yards and punt-return touchdowns with seven.
The Panthers averaged only 4.6 yards per return last season.
Carolina's kickoff return average of 19.4 yards was also the worst in the league.
Carolina's final pick was cornerback C.J. Wilson of Baylor in the seventh round.
Carolina selected linebacker Jon Beason of Miami, Southern Cal receiver Dwayne Jarrett, and fellow USC Trojan center Ryan Kalil on the first day of the draft.
