NEW HANOVER COUNTY -- Former state Sen. Patrick Ballantine says, despite published reports, he is not planning on running for lieutenant governor. The Wilmington real estate developer was at the North Carolina Conservative Conference over the weekend when someone asked if he would consider a run. We spoke to Ballantine on the phone Monday. He said he would not rule out the idea of running for lieutenant governor, but he's not actively planning a campaign.
