BRUNSWICK COUNTY -- A developing story from overnight in Brunswick County where the State Bureau of Investigation is looking into what we're told is a shooting. Details are still sketchy at this point. All the sheriff's office will say is that it happened in the 2400 block of Maco Road -- that's Highway 87 about a mile south of US 74/76. Deputies also tell us that Sheriff Ron Hewett will hold a press conference Thursday morning. They would not comment on why SBI agents are handling the investigation. Dispatchers say they received a call about the shooting around 11 p.m. Wednesday.
