Firefighters battle Pender County blaze, arson suspected

READ MORE:
PENDER COUNTY -- Firefighters battled another fire in Pender County Wednesday night and we've learned there may be an arsonist at work. The fire broke out in the Holly Ridge area near the water tower, not far from the scene of one of last week's fires off Buck Shot Road. Early on firefighters had difficulty getting through the woods to the flames. The forestry department sent in six bulldozers. Crews are still on the scene. Forestry bulldozers are cutting containment lines. As for the cause of last night's blaze, Forestry Spokesperson Shane Hardee would only say that the fire is still under investigation. But there has been speculation that it was suspicious in nature.
