She was born in the USA, she is American. Her parents were born in India. I was born in England and proud of my British heritage. I am an American citizen, I am an American, period. African American, Indian American, Mexican American? It is obvious that they are not white (of European decent) but who said white is the only color that can call themselves just plain ole' American?
