Community proactive against wildfires

READ MORE:
BRUNSWICK COUNTY -- When it comes to wildfires, one community in Brunswick County is proactive. Residents in the River Run neighborhood are trying to keep potential wildfires from spreading to their homes. They're doing it by planting fire-resistant shrubs and bushes. They're also learning several landscaping techniques that can help prevent the spread of wildfires. Zion Hill Fire Department's Lane Wilkins said, "When you get your young plant, you want to allow for growth. That way you have some room when the plant grows out and the house." Experts say bushes that are too close to the house are a fire danger. They also recommend keeping shrubs and ground cover trimmed.
