READ MORE: Leland family in shock after teen's murder
LELAND -- A Leland family is still in shock after a loved one was found gunned down over the weekend. It happened in the Creekwood housing community early Saturday morning. At about 2:30 Saturday morning police responded to a call about a shooting in the 700 block of North 30th Street. That's when police say they found the body of 17-year-old Antonio Brown. Police say they found Brown's body lying on the ground at the intersection of 30th and Clayton Place along with a handgun and a small amount of cocaine near the victim's body. Emergency crews attempted to revive the teen, but to no avail. Brown was pronounced dead at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. An autopsy report later revealed he had been shot several times. Now his family wants answers. Jomoka Brown is the victim's sister. She said, "My brother has been in other things before, similar to this, so we know it's gang related. We just don't know who did it, why. We don't have no answers, we just want closure." Brown's family says they're upset their loved one's life was cut short and will not rest until his killer is behind bars. Wilmington Police say they will continue to investigate the case and we'll keep you updated as more information becomes available. In the meantime, if you have any information on this case, you're urged to call the Wilmington Police Department at 343-3645.
