Kitchen Cops 4/16/09

READ MORE:
It's been a while, but health inspectors found two low performers during recent restaurant inspections in this week's Kitchen Cops report, as well as three high performers. We begin with the Deck House in Carolina Beach. An inspector took off three points because an employee drained carrots in the seafood sink, celery was on the seafood sink drainboard and chicken was stored above fish and roast. Two more points off because potatoes in the oven were too cold. Two more points off because the egg wash in a cooler and steaks in grill drawers were too warm. The hot water at the three-compartment bar sink was not hot enough, and several things needed cleaning and maintenance. A score of 86.5 for the Deck House. To Wilmington and Sbarro's Pizzeria in the food court at Independence Mall. Three points off because the times to discard pizza were not available. Two more because pizzas on front line holding were too cold. And several items were stored dirty and other things needed cleaning. 86.5 for Sbarro. Three New Hanover County eateries are high performers. We start with Jester's Java at 607 Castle Street in Wilmington. No deductions and a perfect 100. The same perfect score belongs to edible arrangements at 6766 Wrightsville Avenue Suite B. And to Queen's Café on North Fourth Street in Wilmington. A half point off because you must have test strips available and a score of 99.5.
