Spring festivals and fireworks, a car show and a chance to get a good book on the cheap; all that, and more is going on this weekend. The Friends of New Hanover County Public Library's used book sale offers books, movies and audio starting at one to three dollars per item. Prices drop to 10 cents by the sale's final day. The member preview is Friday from six to nine p.m. at the Northeast Regional Library on Military Cutoff Road. It's open to the public Saturday through Thursday. If you like art, check out what's on the walls in downtown Wilmington during the Fourth Friday Gallery Night. The free self-guided after-hours tour from six to nine p.m. includes Bottega Gallery, Acme Art Studios, Port City Pottery, New Elements Gallery, The Golden Gallery, the Wilmington Gallery, WHQR, Montage at 310, Burchetta Blass, Port City Antiques, Selectables, Creations by Justine and Una Luna. Trying to figure out what to do with old electronics like televisions, computers or microwaves? Don't throw them away, recycle them. You can drop off any electronics that do not have Freon at the Wal-Mart off Market Street in Wilmington Saturday from nine a.m. to two p.m. The Tri-Beach Cruisers sponsor the Bash at the Beach Car Show Saturday at the Home Depot in Shallotte. Registration is from nine a.m. to noon. Spring means fun at festivals, including the third annual Kure Beach Street Festival. The music, food, dancing and arts and crafts start at 11 a-m at K Avenue near the pier. A fireworks show starts at dark. Brunswick County celebrates its fourth annual Springfest Saturday. Fun for all ages runs from 10 a.m. to five p.m. at Brunswick River Park across from Belville Elementary on Highway 133. It's the 15th Springfest in the Bladen County town of Kelly. The parade starts on Highway 53 at 11 a.m. The festival runs all afternoon at the ball park. Robinson Produce and Farms hosts the second annual Strawberry Family Fun Day Saturday in Columbus County featuring food, free strawberry ice cream, music, crafts, antique tractors and draft horses. The free event is from nine a.m. until five p.m. at the farm on Green Wwamp Road, or Highway 211 in Bolton. Call 910-876-0322 for more info. Sunday you can enjoy a free family concert featuring the Wilmington Symphony Youth Orchestra. It begins at four p.m. at Union Missionary Baptist Church at 2711 Princess Drive. Admission is on a first come first served basis. There's also a breast cancer awareness fundraiser at Marrz nightclub in Wilmington Sunday. Several bands will play from two p.m. until midnight. There's also a auction and raffle including a guitar signed by Edwin McCain. Tickets are 10 dollars in advance, or 12 at the door. Proceeds go to the one love foundation.
