Teen airlifted to hospital after crash in Brunswick County

A teen was airlifted to the hospital after an accident in Brunswick County Monday. The crash occurred just before 5:00 p.m. at Maco and Goodman Roads near Leland. The 17-year-old turned left onto Goodman Road in front of a tractor-trailer. The truck driver was not injured, but the teen had to be cut out of the car. Witness Brett Henderson said, “I was the first one to go up and talk to the girl that was involved in the accident. She was leaned over in her seat, in the passenger seat gasping for breath. She raised her head up at least three different times trying to sit up but kept passing out.” The girl was airlifted to New Hanover Regional Medical Center where she remains unresponsive. The driver of the tractor-trailer was not charged.
