A Brunswick County restaurant has earned the same low score from health inspectors three times in the last 13 months.
Nesbitt's Jackass Saloon & Eatery in Calabash is no stranger to our Kitchen Cops low performers list. This time around we start with the repeat violations. The inspector said the eatery still has a problem with rats and roaches and needs to call an exterminator and seal all holes in walls. All foods in coolers and freezers need to labels and dates. And all equipment, sinks, tables and shelves need cleaning.
Now the new violations. The slicer needs to be cleaned and sanitized before storing it. Clean utensils need to be stored in a clean place protected from splash and dust. Floors and walls need cleaning and repairs, the inspector said, "to all areas that have been noted many times." Another 87.5 for Nesbitt's Jackass Saloon.
A pair or high performers in this week's Kitchen Cops report.
The hampton inn at 124 Old Eastwood Road in Wilmington lost half a point because a shelf needs to be at least 12 inches above the floor to make cleaning easier.
And just down the street at 420 Eastwood Road Unit 102 the same score of 99.5 for Hungry Howie's Pizza. Just a half point off because the inspector found several containers stacked wet.
