I COMPLETELY agree. The fact that this deputy was punished is abominable. Three of the world's major religions - Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, all recognize the Old Testament and incorporate it in their teachings. Those scriptures advise us to NOT allow any animal to suffer, even if it is on a Sabbath. The deputy saw a dire situation, and he reacted appropriately. Instead of demotion, he should be PRAISED and if at possible, promoted and given a raise or at the very least a bonus. I'm utterly ashamed of Pender County for the way they handled this.
