A Wilmington woman is behind bars tonight after running a stop sign, and crashing into an ambulance. According to police, Lashanna Fennell was driving across 14th Street, and failed to stop at the intersection of Wooster and 14th. She drove into the side of a Bladen County ambulance. A patient in the ambulance was rushed to New Hanover Regional as a safety precaution. Two passengers in Fennell's car were sent to the hospital as well, with non-life threatening injuries. Fennell is being charged with driving with a revoked license, careless and reckless driving, and driving a car without proper registration or insurance. "She is indefinitely suspended; she shouldn't be driving due to her violations. I have witnesses positively identifying her as the driver, even though she was evasive,” said Larry Zettelmaier of the Wilmington Traffic Division. Fennell was taken to New Hanover County Jail.
