Some people in Shallotte spent part of their Memorial Day weekend shopping. The Shallotte Farmers Market is now into its third week. It recently received a grant for more $24,000 from the North Carolina Tobacco Trust Fund. The money will be used to build a new on-site facility. ”We're going to use that money to build a building here on the site here at Riverside Park. It will house a bathroom facility, a storage area and miscellaneous storage areas for at vendors as well as the people who are setting up,” said manager Linda Herrick. The market is held every Saturday from 8 a.m. until noon.
