Veterans attended a service at the New Hanover County War Memorial Monday afternoon. American Legion Post 10 hosted the event at the site in Hugh MacRae Park. The service opened with a moment of silence at 3:00, which is the time the President asked everyone to pause to remember our fallen heroes. Veterans, members of the public, law enforcement, and elected officials attended. "What we call our rights were fought and earned by these veterans, many who gave their lives and that's who we're honoring today, those who lost their lives in defense of our country,” said Milton Woodle of Post 10. Representatives from different organizations placed wreaths in front of the memorial. Post 10's Honor Guard also had a role in today's service.
