Pirates Fall in State Championship Baseball Series

The Topsail High School baseball team lost 6-2 on Friday to South Stanly in game one of a best of 3 series for the 1-A state title. On Saturday South Stanly won 7-2 to claim the state championship. The runner-up finish for Topsail marks the second year in a row Topsail has finished as the state runner-up on the 1-A level. The Pirates won't be able to make it three years in a row. Starting this fall Topsail will compete on the 2-A level. WWAY featured Topsail on the Coach's Corner in late May. Click on Coach's Corner on this website to view the entire show.
