Drivers may hit some traffic crossing the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge later this week. Starting on Wednesday or Thursday, and continuing all next week, lanes will be closed for inspections. The inspections will examine metal plates that connect different pieces of the bridge. They were mandated nationwide after the bridge collapse in Minnesota in 2007. One westbound lane could be closed during the day from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and an eastbound lane from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
