Part of Wilmington was without power for a short time Monday afternoon, including Cape Fear Hospital. Progress Energy told us a tree fell onto a power line in a wooded area off Wrightsville Avenue. The outage lasted about 20 minutes and affected more than 17,000 customers in the Oleander and Hawthorne area. Emergency power immediately took over at Cape Fear Hospital. People visiting patients were happy to see there was no disruption in patient care. "Generators kicked in right off the bat and that was pretty much it. The staff went around just to make sure everyone understood that everything was ok and that the power was on, the emergency power was on, and everything was taken care of," said Chris Rivenbark. Crews worked quickly to have the power up and running by just before 3:00 Monday afternoon.
