Packages from Home, helping troops who fight for our freedom

As we celebrate our independence this weekend, WWAY wants to help honor the men and women who continue to fight for our freedom. That is why we are partnering with the Big Talker FM, the Pender Post, the Local News Review and other sponsors for Packages from Home. This morning, folks dropped off personal care items, snacks and even old cell phones at Kefi Restaurant on Eastwood Road. Those items will become part of care packages for members of the military serving overseas, including the 120th National Guard Battalion based in Wilmington and serving in Iraq. "As you know, we've lost four in just the last couple of days, finding out we've lost four of those heroes in the violence there. So this has become extremely special to us to show those troops they're in our hearts, they're in our minds, they're in our prayers," said Curtis Wright of Big Talker FM. You can donate items for Packages from Home through the end of the month by dropping them off at WWAY at 615 North Front Street in downtown Wilmington.
