Health inspectors gave a Wilmington restaurant a second chance, a Brunswick County eatery has some work to do and there are two high performers in this week's Kitchen Cops report.
We begin with a reinspection for Manahattan Café on South 17th Street in Wilmington. It earned an 87 a month ago. This time around it lost four points because butter in the prep cooler was too warm. Four more points because employees need to change gloves when they tear and wash hands after handling eggs. Three violations in all and a second-chance score of 91.5 for Manhattan Café.
This week's low score belongs to Paradise Café in Holden Beach. Two points off because there were flies in the kitchen. A three-point deduction because boxes of oysters were on the floor of the walk-in cooler. Three more because cheese sauce was too cold and spinach pie, raw oysters and raw pork were too warm. Twelve violations in all and a score of 83 for Paradise Café.
This week's high score goes to Capt'n Bill's Banquet Facility on Market Street in Wilmington. Zero violations and a perfect 100.
And to Oleander Drive where Tazy's Burgers and Grill needs to do a little cleaning. A half point off and a score of 99.5.
