There are more issues with the Oak Island Bridge. The Department of Transportation said that construction of the bridge will be put on hold again - this time due to hairline cracks in the girders. Last fall, a girder collapsed and killed construction worker Jose Montalvo. A spokesman for the DOT told WWAY that the department is inspecting the cracks and will resume construction when they are sure it is safe.
