Winnabow volunteer firefighters presented much needed equipment

There was a much needed boost for the Winnabow Volunteer Fire Department Wednesday. Firefighters were presented with $9,000 in equipment from Firehouse Subs, which included a defibrillator and forcible entry tools, like axes. Money for the tools came from in-store donations from the community. “We are extremely grateful that they could do this for us. We definitely needed the equipment we really thank God for their donations,” said Winnabow Captain Kevin Gore. "All of this money is coming from the community members and then in turn it is giving back to the fire department, so it has really come full cycle for us," added Leslie Wildes, Firehouse Director of Community Programs. The Firehouse Subs restaurant chain was started by a group of firefighters. The Winnabow Fire Department has about 30 volunteers, and the need for the equipment was great. Money saved from buying this equipment, helped the department buy another truck.
