Imagine never running out of toilet paper again. Alice.com has found a way to make that possible. The website frees people from the chore of grocery shopping by delivering the goods to your home. "I think that's a good thing, especially if you have children you have to take shopping,” said Diane Bridgers of Leland. “I know just from experience taking my son, you're pretty busy trying to keep up with him. I think it's a good thing, especially for the elderly too." Shipping is free and any coupons that are available are automatically included. When you create a free account, you tell Alice how many people live in your household and what products you buy. Alice keeps you organized and reminds you when items are running low. With more than six thousand products filling their virtual shelves, we comparison shopped and found most items to be much cheaper on Alice.com than in the store. For example, a dollar off coupon makes Herbal Essence shampoo $2.41 verses nearly $5 in the store. The same was true with brand name diapers, paper towels, and toothpaste. Shopping online can also help an impulse shopper stick to the list. But even if she has to pay a few more dollars, Amy Blanchard said going to the store gives her an excuse to get her five kids out and about. "Piggly Wiggly's good on their meat sales, and they're very friendly. We like to shop around, just to get out of the house," she said. The website just launched in March. The recession has more people buying store brand products because they tend to be cheaper. Big consumer brands have been hurting because of this. Alice.com hopes to help change this by offering the big brand names at a cheaper price.
