I don't see where ANY other citizen should be responsible for helping your father foot the bill.
I can't help but wonder how much your fathers vehicle cost when he purchased it. The average price of a new car sold in the United States is $28,400
If an American can afford to spend that sort of money on a vehicle----then they can afford to PAY THEIR OWN health insurance and deductibles.
As for those denied coverage due to pre-existing conditions....it would be like having a car accident and then calling around to get retro-active coverage. ---PREPARE AHEAD people.
