The Coast Guard continues to investigate an accident Friday at Ocean Isle beach that killed two parasailers. The Associated Press reports the two women killed were 56-year-old Lorrie Shoup of Colorado, and 60-year-old Cynthia Woodcock of Kernersville. Witnesses told WWAY it looked like the pair were having problems when the wind picked up. Then, witnesses said, the rope holding the parasail to the boat disconnected, and the women wound up hitting a pier.
