The true story of two women living in a dilapidated East Hampton mansion springs to life at City Stage this weekend. The musical, Grey Gardens, tells the story of the reclusive aunt and cousin of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. Shows Friday and Saturday are at 8:00 p.m. Sunday matinee is at 3:00 p.m. Tickets range from $20 to $27. You can buy them at the Thalian Hall Box Office. Bald Head Island invites you to eat, drink and shag this Labor Day weekend. The festivities begin Friday night with a Red, White and Blue Shrimp-a-Roo at the Harbourside Pavilion from 6:00 until 10:00 p.m. Tickets are $25 for adults; $12.50 for kids six to twelve. The island is holding a Labor Day picnic with music and games from noon to three, also at the Harbourside Pavilion. Tickets are $15 for adults, $7 for children six to twelve. That night is the annual Labor Day party. It runs from 8:00 until 11:00 p.m. at the Shoals Club. Tickets range from $30 to $80 for adults; $20 for children five to twelve. On Sunday, it is the annual Texas BBQ at the Harbourside Pavilion. It starts at 6:00 and ends at 10:00 p.m. Adults pay $30; children six to twelve pay $15. Packages for these events are also available. Labor Day weekend is a big one in Lake Waccamaw. It is the third annual East Coast Christian Motorcycle Event. It begins Friday and ends on Monday. There will be a bike and car show, games, music, food, vendors, stunts and more. The proceeds benefit the Boys and Girls Homes of North Carolina. It is a wild weekend, Women in Labor Daze celebrates and honors mothers, grandmothers and moms-to-be. The play, Birth, mixes humor and drama as it explores this rite of passage. Shows Friday night begin at 7:30. The Sunday matinee is at five. Performances are at the Scottish Rite Theater on South 17th Street in Wilmington. Tickets are $15. On Saturday, a panel discussion at 10:00 a.m. tackles moms going back to school or work while balancing a family, followed by a discussion at 1:00 p.m. on dad’s involvement. Both take place at the YMCA. Saturday, Oak Island is holding its 20th Annual Arts and Crafts Festival. It starts at 9:00 a.m. and ends at 4:00 p.m. at Middleton Park Extension Soccer Field at 46th Street and Dolphin Drive.
