Saturday, it is opening night for the Wilmington Symphony Orchestra's 2009-2010 Masterpiece Season. It begins with a musical tour of Scandinavia. It begins at 8:00 p.m. at UNCW's Kenan Auditorium. Tickets start at $21 for adults. Creative artists of Hampstead are getting together for it's annual fine arts sale this weekend. It is happening at Poplar Grove Plantation both Saturday and Sunday. There will be a book signing, silent auction and demonstrations. Bluegrass bands from across the state are converging in Kure Beach this weekend for the Southern Coastal Bluegrass Festival. The music plays Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Fort Fisher Military Recreation Area. Advance tickets are $10 per day. You can purchase them online at If your interests lie in history, the Bellamy Mansion is focusing on 19th century African-American history of the area. It begins at 10:00 a.m. and ends at 1:30 p.m. Tickets are $4 for kids, $10 for adults. If you have ever wanted to stomp some grapes, now is your chance. It is Duplin Winery's annual Grape Stomp. Registration begins at 11:00 a.m. with live music followed by the Great Duplin Stomp Off, and then dinner. Advance purchase is required. The cost is $50. Call 1-800-774-9634. We move from stomping the grapes to tasting the wine. The Third Annual Tasting with Topsail is Saturday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Assembly Building in Topsail Beach. You can sample various wines from across the state, as well as food from area restaurants. Tickets are $25 in advance. You can buy them online at Want to check out some smooth rides? Several Corvettes are rolling into town for the Second Annual Corvette Show. It begins at 9:00 a.m. at Jeff Gordon Chevrolet in Wilmington.
