Largely, the airlines are NOT responsible for the extreme pricing in this area... an airport makes money (in part) by charging "landing fees" to airlines that use the facility, as well as other menial fees. Last I remember, the landing fees that ILM charged airlines were somewhere to the tune of 10 times higher than RDU or Greensboro.
