Tourists must be puzzled when they look at the honorees on the plaques of the "Hall of FAME," located in the midst of the Cotton Exchange parking lot:
Caterina Jarboro (obscure opera singer remembered only by a few locals intersed in esoterica)
Claude Howell (modestly-talented local artist with more personality than skill)
Robert Rurark?
Isaac Bates?
Don Payne?
Jim Goodnight?
Pat Hingle (part-time character actor)
As my out-of-town guest said to me, "This Walk of Fame is a tad tacky, don't you think?"
Fame?
