Local college students got a media and civics lesson from a national network Thursday. The C-Span Civics Bus stopped by UNCW Thursday afternoon. The bus serves as a mobile production studio and educational tool for the television network. C-Span provides free resources for college students, including over 100,000 hours of video archives. Organizers hope speaking to college students will encourage more civic involvement. “Even if you're not old enough to vote, what goes on in the government does affect you. Health care is a huge topic right now and that certainly affects everybody,” said C-Span Marketing representative Vanessa Bailey. UNCW student Eric Noyes said, “It's a great way to see the country. I think it would be a great job, so I definitely could see myself doing that.” The C-Span Bus Program started in 1993 to bring worldwide issues to communities throughout the country. The bus travels 11 months a year while producing shows and stopping at many colleges and universities.
