Voters get chance to met candidates in local races

Thursday night, many voters met the candidates in a number of local races. Candidates for town council and mayor from Carolina Beach, Kure Beach and Leland fielded questions from residents. Questions for the candidates at Carolina and Kure Beach included managing parking problems during tourist season, and managing the growth of Pleasure Island. “The success to keep the momentum of Carolina Beach going, that's just what we really need. We don't want to step backwards, we want to keep our boardwalk,” said Fred Grady of Carolina Beach. Over in Leland it was politics and pizza. Voters heard from the candidates for mayor, town council and the local water authority at Antonio's Pizza. The forum gave Leland residents the opportunity to ask candidates questions about the issues that matter most. “One question was regarding taxes and growth of the communities,” said Terry Grillo of the North Brunswick Chamber of Commerce. “There's always a concern, especially with today's economy - with what is it going to cost and what am I going to get for my taxes.” Early voting for the November election begins October 15th.
