State Republicans are asking the Board of Elections to investigate Governor Perdue's campaign travel. Republican Party Chairman Tom Fetzer said he wrote elections board leaders seeking a formal investigation into Perdue's committee and the state Democratic Party. Fetzer wants elections officials to look closely at 17 private flights the Bev Perdue committee said it had not disclosed or paid properly. The Democratic Party executive director said the complaint has no merit. The board already is examining private flights by former Governor Mike Easley.
