CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) -- North Carolina goes into its best-of-three NCAA regional showdown against South Carolina injury-free.
It's not that the games have taken a toll. It's the celebration afterward that caused problems.
The Tar Heels scored three runs in the ninth inning of their 11-10 win over East Carolina on Saturday night. That set off a wild celebration as Reid Fronk dove across home plate to score the game-winning run.
Winning pitcher Rob Wooten went to give Fronk a celebratory bear hug from behind and broke one of his right front teeth on the back of Fronk's head. That gave Fronk a gash that required five stitches.
North Carolina rallied to beat Western Carolina on Monday, and the postgame was more subdued. Players marked the win with hugs and high-fives.
Games One and Two are on Friday and Saturday nights at 7 in Boshamer Stadium, which will be demolished this summer and replaced with an expanded, $17 million ballpark in its footprint.
