The Yaupon Pier was not "saved" by the Town in 2008. The Yaupon Pier property is not redevelopable. Town bidding for the pier drove private bidders aways who would have opened the pier a year earlier than the Town. Then their is the Long Beach Pier. In 2006 it was sold, demolished and the property redeveloped. Mayor Vereen, Councilman Ensminger, and Mr. Thomes did nothing to save the pier that really was under threat. They had other interests.
