It is a homemade Christmas in Burgaw. Friday, the Pender County Extension in the Community Association is holding Holiday House 2009. There will be homemade Christmas crafts, Thanksgiving crafts, baked goods, quilts and more. It begins at 9:00 a.m. and ends at 2:00 p.m. Also Friday, kick off the weekend with some barbeque at Ashley High School. It is a fundraiser for the Screaming Eagles Marching Band. You can buy plates from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Ashley High School main entrance. They are ten dollars for adults and five dollars for kids ten and under. Dust off your tux. It is the Historic Wilmington Foundation's annual Black Tie Celebration. Enjoy cocktails, dinner, dancing and an auction. It starts at 6:30 at the Hannah Block Historic USO. Tickets are $150. To buy them, call 762-2511. Saturday, there is a golf tournament at Topsail Greens for the Topsail High School baseball and softball teams. Tee off at 8:30 a.m. It is $60 per person. Enjoy a little Latin American culture at Hugh MacRae Park Saturday during the Eleventh Annual Festival Latino. Enjoy music, food and dancing. The festival is from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sports fans do not want to miss this event at Legion Stadium. Saturday, from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. it is a sports items resale to raise money for local athletics teams and organizations. There will be photos with Santa, plus an autograph session with former and current pro athletes. It is a dollar to get inside; free for folks fifteen and younger. It ends at 9:30 that night with a street dance in downtown Whiteville. The fun resumes Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. Support our troops with Soup Saturday at Mayfaire. Dine Wilmington Online is raising money for Hope for the Warriors, a national organization that helps wounded service members. It begins at 11:00 a.m. and ends at 3:00 p.m. Admission is free with a two dollar donation per soup sample. Saturday is the Second Annual Fall Festival in Belville. There will be music, arts and crafts. It begins at 10:00 a.m. and ends at 4:00 p.m. at Waterford Village Shoppes. Chowder has gone to the dogs. The 7th Annual Chowdafest benefits Carolina Canines Saturday. It begins at noon at Fat Tony's on Front Street. For five dollars, you can choose between a cup of either New England, Manhattan or Down East chowder. Also this weekend, do you want to see some of the best women racquetball players in the world? They are coming to Wilmington for the Rock 'n Racquetball at the Coast Tournament. It is Friday through Sunday at the Wilmington Athletic Club. It starts at 1:00 Friday.
