“If you want it to get there before Christmas you have to start sending at least 4 weeks prior to Christmas,” said Thomas Russell of Step up for Soldiers. “I would send 5 weeks prior to Christmas.” If you want your soldier to have something to open on Christmas, without breaking your budget on shipping, Friday is the deadline. The November 13th deadline applies to parcel post mail, the least expensive but slowest option. If you are sending priority mail you have until December 4th for all Army post office zip codes. For all the procrastinators, you can still send it express mail by the 18th to have it waiting under the tree to most APO's. If you buy items you want to put in there buy a bag of hard candy and spread the hard candy so the package is full.
