The family of a woman killed in an Ocean Isle Beach parasailing accident is suing the company and boat owners.

Fifty-four-year-old Lorrie Shoup, and Cynthia Woodcock died after the rope tying them to a boat broke, sending them into the water.

A lawsuit filed in federal court by Shoup's family alleges negligence on the part of Ocean Isle Watersports, the company that owned the boat, and N.C Watersports, which leased it.

The companies previously tried to limit liability in this case to $100,000. The Shoup family attorney is seeking to dismiss the limit, and wants permission to sue in state court.
