Williston students "rock out" for special trip

Some Williston Middle Schoolers spent part of their holiday break rocking out. The orchestra students sat in rocking chairs all day long to raise money for their trip to New York City. The group was invited to perform at the Statue of Liberty and Saint John's Cathedral. People stopped by the "rock-a-thon" to make donations and help the students reach their goal of one thousand dollars. "I work as a crossing guard down here on 12th Street, and there's a man who goes by everyday with his Viola case, and I thought it would be a nice thing to come up here and donate," said Bob Keeler. Orchestra student Margaret Jeffrey said, "It feels kind of weird after awhile to your feet. I don't know how to explain it, because my back's starting to hurt right now." New York City will not be the Williston orchestra's first special performance. The students played at one of the presidential inaugural balls in Washington, DC last January.
