CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A police officer in North Carolina's largest city has been charged with sexually assaulting two female motorists he had pulled over while on duty. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Officer Marcus Jackson was being held on bond totaling $360,000 before a court hearing Thursday. Jail records did not indicate whether he had an attorney, and a spokesman did not immediately return a call. The case began after a relative reported Monday that a 17-year-old girl said she was ordered into Jackson's car, driven to another site, and assaulted. The 25-year-old Jackson was charged with sexual battery, second-degree sex offense, extortion, kidnapping, indecent exposure and two counts of felonious restraint. Police Chief Rodney Monroe says he encourages other potential victims to come forward. (Copyright 2009 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.)
