RALEIGH (AP) -- An attorney says defense attorneys for three Duke lacrosse players accused of rape last year made repeated requests of prosecutor Mike Nifong for the full results of DNA testing in the case.
Brad Bannon testified today in Nifong's ethics trial. Bannon represented former player Dave Evans and is credited with uncovering the full extent of test results from thousands of pages of raw data.
Bannon also talked about offers he and other defense attorneys made to meet with Nifong before he sought indictments in the case.
Bannon says Nifong refused those requests.
The North Carolina State Bar has accused Nifong of violating the rules of professional conduct. That includes allegations that Nifong kept from the defense the full details of the DNA testing.
A stripper said she was raped at a party hosted by the team. The charges against the players were dropped earlier this year by the attorney general's office.
Nifong could lose his law license in the state if he is convicted.
