Do you know what a yurt is?
You'll find out Friday at the New Hanover County Public Library in downtown Wilmington.
Yurtfolk will present "Around the world in eight songs and dances." They'll also explain what a yurt is and why their family lives in one. The program starts at 1 p.m.

Need to *spruce* up your yard?
You can pick up five tree seedlings to take home and plant. Tree fest is Friday from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. in the J.C. Penney wing at Independence Mall. A $3 donation is requested.

If you're near Hampstead Friday night and in the mood for Italian food, drive over to the Hampstead Women's Club. The group is holding a spaghetti dinner fundraiser to benefit the Pender County Humane Society. Tickets are $8 for one plate or $15 for two.
Hours are from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Calling all sleuths
The Cape Fear Museum of History and Science needs your help cracking the case of the photo shoot catastrophe. This year's mystery at the museum is Saturday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., but you have to be there by 2:30 p.m. Kids will be able to investigate fur and feather samples, animal tracks, and even work in "crime scene labs." The program is free for museum members, $5 for non-members.

The Rusty Nail Sports Bar is holding a Haiti earthquake relief benefit Saturday. Several music groups are performing. It runs from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. The $5 admission will go to the American Red Cross.
