Renowned surgeon takes part in UNCW MLK celebration

A world famous surgeon, who performed the only successful separation of Siamese twins conjoined at the head spoke to a sold out audience at UNCW Thursday night as part of the school's celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Benjamin Carson is the Director of Pediatric Neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Children's Center. US News and World Report recognized Carson as one of America's best leaders. He has received the Presidential Medal of Freedom, which is the highest civilian honor in the United States.

Carson says he always knew he wanted to be a doctor. He has written four books and was the subject of the movie "Gifted Hands: The Ben Carson Story."
