NewsChannel 3 would like to introduce a special dad, Trevor McDonald. We're honoring him as one of our winners for the "Make Your Father's Day" contest. He was nominated by his six year old daughter, Leah.
Leah wrote a letter telling us how special her dad is. On Father's Day Leah is looking forward to her dad making her a father's day milk shake.
The McDonald family is also planning a night out for a special father's day dinner.
Meet Steadmon Raynor. He's 84 years young, as his daughter Edna Aycock wrote. He and his wife Julia married in 1943 and just celebrated their 64th anniversary.
Steadmon shared some advice with us on being a good dad.
He said, "Put yourself in the position of the perfect dad, of perfect parents, and you say you can't be perfect, but you can try."
The Raynors have raised their three children in Wilmington and say they're grateful for a wonderful family.
Another nominee in our father's day contest is Willard Spivey. Willard's stepson Edward Reese wrote in to let us know what a special person Willard is.
Reese said, "He is the kindest and most loving father anyone could hope or ask for. My dad, Willard Spivey, is the greatest dad in all the world."
Willard and his family live in Whiteville. He says he's blessed and is particularly proud of his great-granddaughter Haley.
