Titan Cement, Greece's largest cement maker had its mining operations in Florida closed down by U.S. District Court Judge William Hoeveler after it was linked to contamination in Miami-Dade’s water supply. Titan's mining operations have been stated as the cause of elevated levels of benzene, a hazardous chemical with links to cancer, were detected at a water treatment facility in Northwest Wellfield, the main water supply for most of Miami-Dade County.
